This week we were asked to take 4 self-portraits. This probably was one of the hardest assignments for me because I usually don't like to take pictures of myself. Also It was hard to find creative ideas for self-portraits, and it was especially hard to take them by myself, though for some I asked my older brother to help me take them.
First off is my favorite picture, this one is of me under a cloth to create a cool light affect and background. In this picture my hand is painted with different colors and I am also holding a paintbrush. I decided to do this because personally I feel like drawing and painting has become a great part of who I am. I spend a great portion of my free time either painting or drawing so I wanted to show this. I also feel like the background helps show how calming drawing and painting is for me. My hair is also a mess which I think shows perfectly how messy and unorganized paint and drawing is.
My second portrait is of me reading a book. For this one I asked my older brother to help me take it. In this picture I am reading a book, with some Christmas lights in the back. I decided to do this because if I am not painting or on my phone you will usually find me reading. This picture represents for me a stress free happy place. I decided to use this picture in black and white to show how simple and calming reading is to me.
My next picture is me again under a cloth to create a cool background and light effect, in this picture I am simply looking at the camera. This picture is just me... I feel like it shows how peaceful it is to just be yourself. It is simple yet I like it.
My last picture is a black and white photo of me looking at a sand-clock. I decided to do this to show how im often in my head over thinking everything...always wondering if what im doing is good enough, and make the worst case scenarios in my head. I also tend to think im not doing enough and time is just slipping away. In this picture I wanted to show that part of me.
